photo(3)“a portrait of B., once a week, every week, in 2013.”

this weekend B. participated in the Denver Century Ride – it was his first metric century! that’s 100km people! It’s impressive!

he has been training for about a year! at first I really wanted to do it with him! but, then I went to Brazil  and did not train for months, and then there was winter and vacation, which means, I could never accompany him this time! maybe, next time?

it was a very emotional day, to say the least! we could not sleep the night before! him: anxiety, me: he was tossing and turning in bed! by 3:30am we were already having breakfast and an hour later we had left the house!

photo(4)photo(5)he left from The Shops at Northfield around 6am and I kissed him good luck and headed back home, to take a nice nap!

DSC07999 DSC08001 DSC08002 DSC08004B. started getting ready for the ride! the atmosphere was great, the weather was perfect!

DSC08020 DSC08017 DSC08014 DSC08013and there he went!

I followed his ride through twits, an awesome app, and when we was 45 minutes from the finish line, I headed back to Northfield to great him!

DSC08041 DSC08039 DSC08042when B. was arriving – the fourth person to cross the finish line, btw, the children’s parade was happening! so, that was a let down, as he did not get to cross the finish line on his bike!

DSC08044 DSC08047 DSC08050 DSC08048he did it! and was super exhausted! so exhausted he picked a fight with me and we didn’t get to enjoy the post ride party! but, happy, super happy to have accomplished this!

congratulations on your first century, B.! you are amazing!

Happy Friday, friends!

I can’t believe how quick time is passing! It’s already the middle of the year! Soon enough it will be 2014, World Cup and all! Jesus!

This weekend B. will participate on his first Denver Metric Century bike ride! I’m so proud of him, of all his training! I’ll take him to Northfield in the morning and I’ll go back to see him end the race in later on! I hope to capture a lot of images from all the fun!

Next week will be even crazier, it’s Etsy Craft Party,  B.’s birthday and I’ll be heading to NYC to check on a few details of our engagement party and enjoy some family time!

Have a fantastic, relaxing weekend!

IMG_6157riding our bikes was def. my favorite thing to do in Paris. the energy was intense. the culture is unmatched. it will take Denver decades to reach that level of bike culture!

one of our stops was the Galerie Lafayette! I didn’t have plans to shop in this gigantic, super fancy department store! it’s def. not my type of place! but, many of our friends suggested we went up to the terrace in the top floor for the view of Paris! and it was well worth it!

IMG_6067IMG_6073IMG_6155IMG_6150it’s a fantastic view of the city, of the parisian rooftops!

IMG_6190IMG_6153inside the department store you have this view: the building is breath taking! it looks like an old theater! it’s gorgeous! I think we stopped there and looked around for a while, speechless!

IMG_6151how do you explain this place?

IMG_6201we also tried to have a nice picnic by the Torre Eiffel – I think this first day was 100% touristy! But I’m in love with it! we shopped at this nearby market, got a few bottles of wine, bread, cheeses, Danette, some other deliciousness and biked back to the tower!

IMG_6191it’s a shame I don’t have a picture from our picnic! it was so cold and windy, we didn’t stay longer! we ate and biked back home along the seine! it was fantastic though, we pick up the sunset by the river and it was gorgeous!

IMG_6192 IMG_6194 IMG_6193 IMG_6195

IMG_6196how amazing are these images? B. looks so good in the sunset!

IMG_6199

IMG_6180 IMG_6179 IMG_6156 IMG_6200 IMG_6198 IMG_6199over all, it was a pretty incredible day! I had my first Pierre Hermé macaroons and they were as amazing as everyone says! maybe even more amazing! we biked in Paris, I saw the Arc du Triumph, the Eiffel Tower, the gorgeous Galerie Lafayette and had the best time with my love! that night I slept! I slept like I was dead! I was so happy!

since we returned from vacation, I felt the urge to change our home a little, adapt to the hotter weather and make it more a place we love to spend our time in than ever! i posted about the changes in our living room here, and gave you a sneak peak of our bedroom here! today I’m going to share with you how our bedroom looks now!

IMG_6008we worked on inserting black triangle stickers in one of the walls. i made those myself! I bought two rolls of black contact paper, downloaded a triangle shape in a size I liked, and cut all the pieces with an exacto knife! I really love the results! if you don’t feel like doing all of this by yourself, you can buy these gorgeous removable wall adhesive from walls by mur!

we chose wall adhesive stickers because we rent, instead of owning our place, so I didn’t want to commit to paint! instead, the stickers are easy to put on and take off once I’m tired of them or we are ready to move!

IMG_6014we framed our engagement announcement card and put it on our wall! it’s such a special piece for us! i just love the result!

IMG_6018 IMG_6016I got rid of our dresser, it was super ugly! instead, we are using two ikea’s shelves horizontally, and I more surface to display my jewelery! i’m trying to organize it in such a way I could see it more and be able to use it more!

IMG_6017my side table is an ikea step stool that I painted a few white stripes! the tray I brought home from Spain, from Zara home and the jewelery dish is also from there, it’s where I’m saving my engagement ring!

IMG_6012on B.’s side, I brought from paris these polka dot string lights from La Case de Cousin Paul!

since I was these lights on jordan’s website, oh happy day, I was dying to stop by their store in paris. i got to go to two of their stores and picked the colors i wanted: white, black, two version of grey and I’m in love with the results!

I bought another light fixture at Merci, but we didn’t install that one yet!

IMG_6015IMG_6013overall I like how things look! we still have work to do, we have an old, victorian style chair we found in the garbage we need to get re-upholstered and I’m desperately looking for a full length body mirror and stairs for hanging clothes.

“a portrait of B., once a week, every week, in 2013.”

I love this picture of B. and I also love how much he loves riding his bike!

We’ve been talking about our hobbies a lot lately. The way I see it, back home in the East Coast, life did not really permit us to have hobbies and follow up on them! You have family and friends around and any free time you have from work you are spending with them!

Here, since we are alone, there are not those situations: “oh, it’s Sunday afternoon, lets go have lunch with my mom!”

It’s more like: it’s Sunday afternoon, lets go on a bike date! The two of us!!!

And it makes me happy! It’s a healthy, happy hobby and he includes me as much as possible!

Do you have a hobby?

This weekend we tried to enjoy the beautiful weather outside and Denver was full of events! Our first stop was the Horseshoe Flea Market! Denver lacks a lot in terms of support of the arts! To find this new flea market was a relief! It was incredibly well put together, with local vendors of some fantastic handmade goods, art, cosmetics, food!

B. was specially interested in the food trucks! we got to try food from two of them and just loved our choices! we also got goody bags full of awesome stuff from the vendors!

Thank you B. for been an amazing company!
